What's It All About?
By Bernard Dozier
There are plenty of opportunities for asking, “Is there more to life than this?” and the allegorical answers, provided by the priestly authors of Genesis, set our questing feet on the spiritual path.
At the time many believed gods and goddesses ruled bits and pieces of Creation, but these “Genesis Men” saw God as Source--as a single Presence, Life, Energy, Source and Context of Being. They explained, through allegory, that Creation is an eternal spiritual realm/reality, and that this physical realm is the evolutionary manifestation of God’s primal Idea. Science can’t say it any better.
The purpose of life? What God is, He created us to be. Our name is actually “God, Jr.,” but we let our humanhood obscure our Christ-likeness.
Even the fairy tales we read as children were based on this spiritual theme. I recall my childish impatience with the prince or princess who, under a spell (of humanity), lived as a pauper.
I would fume, “Why doesn’t he/she wake up to who he or she really is?” Then, in the happy ending some fortuitous event would clear their mind and restore them to their rightful authority and true estate.
Just the other day I saw a headline asking, “Are you related to royalty?” Each one of us should answer, “Yes.” Because if the truth were known each one of us is a prince or a princess in the divine scheme to things. If God is our Father, I don’t know how we’d get any more royal than that.
The very Mind of God is our Mind or Soul...our ever-living spiritual body. As spiritual beings we don’t have to have a flesh or human body, but we’ve chosen to operate in one for a while.
While we’re “in the flesh,” we are “commissioned” to use our spiritual Mind and body to think and to bring the love, will, purpose, power, goodness and beauty of God into this Third Dimension of Mind and matter. That’s Life! That’s what it’s all about.
