Metaphysical meaning of Ain (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Ain (mbd)
Ain, a'-`in (Heb.)--eye; a (natural) fountain; a fountain, literally, an eye. A city on the eastern boundary line of Canaan (Num. 34:11). First it seems to have been a city of Judah, and then of Simeon (Josh. 15:32; 19:7). It was one of the places that were given over to the Levites, or priesthood (Josh. 21:16).

Meta. Praise (Judah) of our natural religious tendencies (Levites) and hearing of, or obedience (Simeon) to, them open the way for discernment (eye) of spiritual Truth. Light, love, and Truth enter a person's consciousness and become in him a fountain (Ain) of living water. "The water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up unto eternal life," said Jesus.
