Metaphysical meaning of Shaaraim (mbd)
Shaaraim, sha'-a-ra'-im (Heb.) double cleft; double apertures; two gates; two sluices; double measures; two assemblages; two forums.

a A city in the lowland of Judah (Josh. 15:36). b A city of Simeon (I Chron. 4:31)

Meta. "And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron" (I Sam. 17:52). Shaaraim (double cleft, two gates, double apertures), a city in the lowland of Judah, and also a city of Simeon, through which the Philistines were driven by the Israelites to Gath (wine press, trial) and Ekron (extermination), signifies the double way that is opened up by the attentive and obedient attitude of mind (Simeon) and by prayer and praise (Judah), to eliminate from the consciousness and the organism the error sense beliefs and thoughts for which the Philistines stand.
